In an advisory, Events Project Manager Saul Pa-a told media that the President will arrive at 9:30 at the General Santos City International Airport.
Upon landing, the President will be accorded arrival honors. She will be received by Sarangani Governor Miguel Rene Dominguez, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, Presidential Assistant for Region XII Nestor Camacho, EastMinCom Commanding General Raymundo Ferrer, 10th ID commanding officer MGen. Reynaldo Mapagu, DIPO Mindanao Directorate CSupt. Felizardo Serapio Jr., PNP XII regional director CSupt. Josefino Cataluna and Civil Aeronautics Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Manager Nathaniel Nazareno.
Joining the presidential party are Press Secretary Cerge Remonde, Trade Secretary Peter Favila, and Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Jake Lagonera.
Pa-a said other cabinet members will arrive ahead of the President and shall proceed immediately to Sarangani.
He added that after the welcome ceremony at the airport, President Arroyo will motor to Isla Parilla Resort for the joint meeting and the full Cabinet meeting.
Sarangani Vice Governor Steve Solon together with ARMM Regional Governor Datu Zaldy Ampatuan, the municipal mayors of Sarangani Province, Bishop Orlando Quevedo, chairman of the Mindanao River Basin Task Force and Resort Manager Charlemagne Delfino will receive the President upon arrival at the venue.
At 10:05, President Arroyo will preside over the joint meeting of the Cabinet and the Presidential Task Force for Mindanao River Basin at the resort Fisherman’s Hall.
Bishop Quevedo is expected to give a 30-minute powerpoint presentation highlighting the different milestones and also the issues confronting the Mindanao River Basin project.
Last year, Mrs. Arroyo created the task force for the Mindanao River Basin project to oversee its development and rehabilitation particularly the dredging of Rio Grande de Mindanao River and Tamontaka River that overflow and cause flashfloods in Cotabato City and some towns in Maguindanao during rainy days.
President Arroyo also ordered the release of P243-million to be used for the immediate rehabilitation of the river basin.
After the joint meeting, a media briefing by Sec. Remonde will also be held at the resort pavilion with task force chairman Quevedo and cabinet talking heads.
At 11A.M., the 33rd full Cabinet Meeting will immediately follow with President Arroyo presiding. The meeting will end at 1 P.M.
The President and party will then motor back to General Santos City Airport for their return flight to Manila. (PIA SarGen)
